I need to get this out before I explode. SUNDAY IS MY DAY!! It’s okay for you to ask me to do something on a Sunday – I truly don’t mind – but DO NOT tell me I have to do something with you that day, don’t make plans for me that cannot be cancelled and don’t get upset if you ask me to do something and I say no. As a matter of fact, as long as I only have one day off a week, assume that the answer can and probably will be no and PLEASE don’t ask for an explanation as I am under no obligation to give you one.
The way I see it, I spend 50+ hours a week pretending to care about hair, makeup and clothes in addition to the four hours a week that I get to be a normal person that’s actually using her degree for more than just a conversation piece. Why in the hell would I choose to spend one more second, let alone six more hours of my week doing anything but enjoying my precious Me-time?
Last Sunday, I bought new pillows! May not seem like an important buy to the average person who has the luxury of earning enough money to support their pillow purchasing habit but it was quite a milestone for me. Don’t judge me for getting excited about pillows; gosh darn it that’s what I wanted to do so that’s what I did.
I don’t ask for a lot from others and I try to be as self-sufficient as possible. I’m finally at the point where I have the confidence to tell people no -- even though I’m usually still on the verge of bursting out with tears of guilt for having to say it – and I’m not making any apologies when the word suddenly flies from my mouth and lands in your ear. You heard me...I SAID NOOOOO!!!
That is all.
